Morris and Essex line halted after tree falls on power lines

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey authorities say train services on the Morris and Essex line has been suspended because of fallen tree.

Morris County director of emergency management Jeffrey Paul said Monday the fallen tree has knocked out power. New Jersey Transit, which operates the line, tweeted photo showing a tree lying across power lines in Morris Plains.

The Morris and Essex line runs from Hackettstown to New York.

Forecasters say high winds are expected across the state with a warning in effect in northern New Jersey.
