Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday unveiled an $84.7 billion budget proposal for New York City that outlined his spending priorities.
It includes money for putting bullet resistant glass in every NYPD patrol car.
“This is a budget against a backdrop of a lot of uncertainty,” Mr. de Blasio said at the start of a news conference in City Hall.
The mayor is also proposing a billion dollar plan to improve public housing.
“It’s a budget that focuses on what we can do for ourselves while we wait to see the shape of things in Washington,” Mr. de Blasio said, adding that a revised budget proposal in the spring might be able to take those factors into account.
