News Shorts:

A Bronx mother on Sunday found her 19-year-old son shot to death in his bedroom.

Jose Hart, 19. was unconscious and unresponsive with gunshots to the torso, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hart’s father was recently killed in a motorcycle crash.

 A massive fire in Trenton early Monday morning engulfed at nine homes, causing three of them to collapse.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m. on Weinberg Place and quickly spread. Crews evacuated an entire block and power has been turned off to the area after falling power lines.

Two people were hurt at the scene.

Sports Shorts:

NHL: PANTHERS 3, RANGERS 2, SO

NEW YORK (AP) — Vincent Trocheck and Aleksander Barkov scored in the shootout to lift Florida over New York.

James Reimer made 33 saves and two more in the shootout, backing goals from Keith Yandle and Aaron Ekblad for Florida.

This is the first time this season the Rangers have dropped back-to-back games after losing to Columbus on Friday. It's the first time Florida has beaten New York at Madison Square Garden since April 18, 2013.

Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves in his 700th start. He is only the fifth goaltender in NHL history to play 700 games with one franchise.

Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad scored for New York.

NBA: KNICKS 104, HAWKS 94

NEW YORK (AP) — Carmelo Anthony matched his season high with 31 points and New York beat Atlanta for its fourth straight home victory.

Kristaps Porzingis added 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Dwight Howard had 18 points and 18 rebounds, but point guard Dennis Schroder missed all eight shots as the Hawks dropped their second straight following a six-game winning streak.

Howard bounced back nicely after he was ejected for a flagrant foul Friday in the Hawks' 100-96 loss in Charlotte, while Paul Millsap led Atlanta with 19 points and Kyle Korver scored 17.

New York played without starting center Joakim Noah because of illness. Guards Derrick Rose and Courtney Lee each had 14 points, and Kyle O'Quinn, who replaced Noah, had eight points and eight rebounds.

NBA: TRAIL BLAZERS 129, NETS 109

NEW YORK (AP) — C.J. McCollum scored 33 points, Evan Turner had 19 and Portland beat Brooklyn.

Portland snapped a three-game losing streak and extended Brooklyn's skid to four.

Damian Lillard added 18 points for the Trail Blazers, and Allen Crabbe had 14. Brook Lopez had 21 points for the Nets.
